DeAnna Price Smashes U.S. Hammer Record

By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor

DeAnna Price, already the world leader this spring in the hammer, unleashed a big throw measured at 77.65m (254-9) on Saturday at the Iron Wood Throws Classic in Rathdrum, Idaho. That throw, if ratified, would break the U.S. record and move to No. 5 all-time globally.

Price, a former two-time NCAA champion at Southern Illinois, sent her hammer flying past Gwen Berry's national record of 251-10 (76.77m) more than once. After a long foul on her first attempt, Price got her big mark on the second throw of her series. She had a mark of 253-0 (77.11m) on her sixth and final attempt.
